2018 A very exciting year ahead!

2018 will be a very exciting year, opening with the inaugural Artist in Residence at the National Museum of Ireland being awarded to Róisín de Buitléar. In recognition of her contribution to the world of glass, education and art, the National Museum have invited Róisín to be resident at the museum from January 2018 for 12 months. January also see the opening of an interactive exhibition of glass sound pieces at The Ark Dublin during Tradfest  http://ark.ie/events/view/music-in-glass-exhibition admission is free 

February sees the Sound-Garden for 1916 Play Garden at St Audoen’s Park Dublin 8 going on site. This is a project that arose from consultations with the children of 2016 during the celebrations for the centenary for 1916 and includes a discovery of sound though play designed by Róisín de Buitléar.

March 8th is the opening event for CAUTION! Fragile. Irish Glass -Tradition in Transition Exhibition which has its Irish inaugural opening at the National Museum Collins Barracks Benburb street Dublin

Róisín will be giving lectures workshops and tours during the year centred on this exhibition and her residency.

11th March is a special Family workshop day at the Museum, As Gaeilge, for #Gaeilge2018 seachtain na gaeilge.  Booking essential Bookings@museum.ie.

April is a very glassy month, with German engraver Wilhelm Vernhim coming to give a week long glass engraving workshop at the museum. There will be an open day on April 10th at the residence studio. Enquiries through website.

A symposium of glass on May 23rd is being planned at the National Museum Collins Barracks, covering collecting, the providence of making, and insiders views into the collection, featuring national and international speakers.
